Enchanted Weston

In December 2018 we visited Weston Park for their Enchanted Weston event. Enchanted Weston is an illuminated walk around the woodland of Weston Park, with multi-coloured lights portraying a beauty of the trees that’s not seen in normal conditions.

Upon purchasing tickets, a time slot is allocated . Car parking is free and a festive atmosphere is felt immediately on arrival. We arrive and see the event in full swing, with a live performer in the courtyard, the smell of marshmallows on a fire and the buzz of mulled wine and gin bars.

Enchanted Glen

Our time slot is available and we enter the wooded area. Previous to our arrival, we downloaded an app called Enchanted Glen. Along with the projections and light shows, the kids can interact with the displays, by finding the toadstools when opening up the app. On the screen a fairy comes to life. Virtual reality allows the fairy to be superimposed on the camera for pictures with little ones.

Our walk takes us around 30 minutes, with plenty of stop off points for fairy finding, and picture moments for the ‘gram. The surroundings are beautiful with colourful beams of light highlighting the allure of nature. The lake is lit beautifully with strobe lighting with a bench placed nearby for looking across the lake for a romantic pause.

After all the wonders of the forest are captured, the courtyard presents a myriad of craft stalls with Christmas gifts. A fire pit is perfect to warm up by, and the kids have a marshmallow to roast. I enjoy a lovely gingerbread gin and Dicky gets a beer from the ‘Festive Fizz and Eats’ pop-up in the courtyard. We are kept dry with the large canopies and the atmosphere is festive and warm.

2019

This year, Weston Park have kept up the interactive experience and added a secret pop-up area after the enchanted walk through Temple Wood.
